We are an interdisciplinary team of students and PhD students and as such we see ourselves as an active part of the academic system on different levels. Thus, we already had contact with different core problems of that system and experienced the problematic working culture. Our personal experiences include unusual educational paths and confronting educational inequities based on personal background and gender. Based on our interdisciplinarity, we have gained insights into various fields of tension immanent to the disciplines, but we cannot cover all disciplines from our direct experience. In addition, our experience does not include other issues, such as systematic disadvantages for people with disabilities, students and employees with large family responsibilities, and long-term work pressure in the system. For these issues, we seek external consultation from experts and affected individuals.
